Seepage Control Inc. - Sealing Lakes and Ponds with ESS-13

ESS-13 is pumped or poured directly into the water at a pre-determined application rate. The seepage in your pond will decrease 60% to 90% initially, and this original rate will continue to improve with time.

The ESS-13 “Spray-On Formulation” can save 75% or more off the installation costs of other lake sealing methods.

ESS-13 is pre-mixed with our E-13 compaction aid, pumped in pre-measured quantities into the soil with conventional earth moving equipment. The treated soil is then compacted in two consecutive six inch layers.

Landfill Analysis

Landfill Sealing and Construction The addition of ESS-13 during the construction of a clay liner or landfill cap can minimize construction costs, reduce overall permeability, and reduce the necessary liner thickness.

Typical clay liner -
A typical clay liner can be specified in several ways. The specifications may call for a minimum of 24 inches of compacted clay with a specified permeability rate. In other cases, the specifications may call for a minimum PI for a clay import. Often the native soils cannot achieve the standards. In most instances, the option is to go with an expensive synthetic liner or the costly process of importing higher quality soil.
Sealed Landfill in Operation ESS-13 treated soil liner -
Mixing ESS-13 into the water truck during the moisturizing phase reduces the time required to mix the soil and bring it to its optimum moisture level. During the compaction phase, the soils experience a higher degree of compaction with less compactive effort. This then reduces the total compacting time. Using ASTM D5084 testing, soils treated with ESS-13 yield a 0.5 to 1.0 magnitude reduction in hydraulic conductivity vs. the same soil tested without the addition of the ESS-13.

Overall Landfill Application
Using ESS-13 in conjunction with the native soil can meet the standard specification for the liner, eliminating the need to pursue soil importation or synthetic liners. In addition, the finished liner is constructed in less time with a much tighter seal. We have completed many successful projects where the on-site soil could not meet the specification. With the addition of ESS-13, the soil liner not only met but substantially exceeded the performance specification.
